This winter, APECS regional committees in the US are joining together to form one national committee: US APECS. The advantages of consolidating are:
Opportunities for networking and collaboration in different parts of the country.
A bigger, more prominent group is more likely to be able to partner with other national organizations (similar to APECS Canada's collaborations).
Takes the pressure for continuity off of regional groups - if there stops being interest in a particular area, it'll be easier to start up again later with support from the NC.
Facilitates events at national conferences (i.e. AGU)
Events would still be planned at the regional level, since there is such a geographic spread.
We'd love to hear your ideas about how to make USAPECS the most useful it can be. Contact usapecs@gmail.com with any suggestions.
