USPECS is proud to welcome you to the annual international Polar Film Festival!
Hosted by USAPECS in conjunction with APECS International’s Polar Week
The Polar Film Festival (PFF) is a showcase of some of the best new films about the polar and alpine regions produced by researchers, community members, indigenous peoples, organizations, and institutions worldwide.
A platform to share your experience and knowledge of the Polar and Alpine regions with the world!
What types of films are included in the PFF?
Films submitted to the PFF are generally short films or videos (1-30 minutes in length) produced by early career researchers and others with experience in the Arctic.
When and where is the PFF?
The PFF is a digital event hosted on the USAPECS website and amplified through social media. It occurs every September during APECS International’s Polar Week.
What other events are included in the PFF?
Aside from the films, the PFF includes an Online Filmmaker Roundtable, where filmmakers can discuss their work with each other and the public, and a Filmmaker Mini-Blog Series.
How can I get involved?
Submissions of independently created films (made by you individually or as part of a group) are welcomed. In the past, we’ve featured a range of works, from creative and experimental films to academic documentaries, glimpses into research and organizations, and video diaries. We have also included short “sneak peeks” of longer, upcoming films and documentaries.
